PRESS RELEASE / November 2008

Jesse Mclean / The External Quarter InchNow on ARP

Rising Fundamentalism and a goverment that cites faith to defend war actions have helped grow a desperate society. Dipping between ecstasy and despair, transcendence and absurdity, The External Quarter Inch, journeys to a hidden space where you can lose your way, lose yourself in the moment, or lose your faith in a belief system. An exausted and expectant croud waits on this narrow span. It is not a wide stretch, but it can last forever.

Jesse Mclean was born in Philladelphia, PA, and studied art at Oberlin College. She was employed at Pittsburg Filmmakers, a prominent media arts center dedicated to experimental cinema, for over six years. Her work has been screened at Director's Lounge Berlin, Chicago Underground Film Festival and as part of a two-person exhibit at Manchester Craftsmen's Guild in Pittsburg. The recipient of the Dean's Scholar Fellowship, McLean is currently pursuing her MFA in Moving Image at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
