Acid Rain Production presents, Billion Year Voyage (remix), a collaborative video project between David Colagiovanni and Jerstin Crosby which explores the medium of television as a hypnotic vehicle capable of seducing couch-cushioned viewers into trance-like states. The title of this piece is taken from Dr. Timothy Leary's album, Turn On, Tune In, Drop Out, in which Leary states, "...Your personality, all your goals and your fears, little ambitions, the chess game of your life-you have to check that, and then that other side of you-that dark unconscious-all those animal impulses must be checked-you can't take that on the billion year voyage to God. Are you ready?" The project references campy mysticism, vision quests, hallucinogenics, and the transformative nature of technology. A previous version of this collaborative video explored the web as a psychedelic landscape. The web remix remains in a state of constant flux at www.billionyearvoyage.net.
